Landscapes2 Wins Award
The Chester County Commissioners have won the 2010 Planning Excellence award from the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association. The award was in recognition of the public outreach process utilized by the county in developing Landscapes2, Chester County’s comprehensive plan. The awards committee said the County’s efforts to involve residents and land owners in the planning process exemplified the “best and brightest" in Pennsylvania Planning for 2010. HUD's helps Chester County officials, donors and volunteers break ground for 45 homes at Cambria Terrace in Coatesville, PA. Habitat for Humanity received more than $1.1 M from HUD's Neighborhood Stabilization Program to purchase the property and build homes on the site.

Natural Lands Trust adds farm's acreage to preserve in Franklin. The 173-acre Peacedale Preserve is named for the location of the two properties off Peacedale Road and Route 896 (New London Road) and is the trust's latest preserve. The township lands will be open to the public, and Franklin has grants to erect signage and build trails.

Marsh Creek honored as one of state's 25 Goddard Parks. Marsh Creek State Park was honored on Thursday as one of the state's 25 Goddard Parks. Maurice Goddard served as the state's secretary of forests and water and the secretary of the department of environmental resources for 24 years. Part of his vision was to have a state park within 25 miles of every resident of Pennsylvania.
East Pikeland updates French Creek trail plan. Supervisors adopted an upgraded French Creek Trail master plan after about 30 township residents listened, asked questions and shared ideas for the project, which was first commissioned in 1999.
The Regional Planning Handbook was developed by the Montgomery County Planning Commission on behalf of the Inter-Regional Planning Cooperative (IRPC) and consists of representatives from five planning regions in Montgomery County and Chester County.
$2.1 M boosts local environmental, open space projects. Growing Greener funds totaling $2.1M have been awarded to six municipalities and four land conservancies in Chester County for open space and environmental projects.
