Information on sustainable practices is constantly increasing. Those resources, programs and projects that are relevant to sustainable practices in Chester County will be featured on www.ChescoPAGreen.org.

Greener and smarter - 16 raised gardening beds and a greenhouse at Charles F. Patton Middle School in the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District, where every student gets a chance to toil in the soil. The students harvest the vegetables, bag them and send them off to the Chester County Food Bank in Downingtown. So far, they've harvested more than 150 pounds of vegetables, all of which went to area programs such as the Kennett Food Cupboard.

Green Products are the fastest growing product segment of the commercial and residential building industry. The most popular certification seals for building products are:

  • Green Seal standards for more sustainable products, services has been working with businesses, institutions, and government agencies to achieve sustainability since 1989.
  • Greener Product Certification Seal - products must meet the LEED, LEED for Homes and/or NAHB green building environmental standards for the category as demonstrated by a comprehensive evaluation and verification.
